Why this calorie counter over another? Simplicity and very Rapid Calorie Entry, and now you can even get paid to enter calories!!! courtesy of the Achievemint crowd funding service for rewarding healthy behaviour. The calorie counter is a counter not a meal planner though, it assumes you know how many calories are going in and you just need to track when and how many of those chocolate munchies you had.

To ensure calorie counting is as fast as possible the main counter counts in increments of 25, there is a secondary counter that counts in smaller increments for more detail; but there is also the one dollar components bundle in-app purchase that gives you knobs / sliders / calculator style views that allow you to enter in single figures. Ads can be removed with the one dollar skins bundle.

Its dead simple, no fancy plans and It does exactly what it needs to, and does it as quickly as possible. You have a wheelie thing to enter the numbers and you can change the date back through any of the last 30 days. You can get some basic stats out of it and you can also use iTunes File Sharing to export the data as .csv file so that you can load it up in your spreadsheet once you are back from raiding the fridge. The app is universal so you can use it on your iPad and your iPhone.

It deliberately stays away from letting you monitor weight, that has been my downfall many a time, I lose a kilo, see it and then eat a giant pizza to celebrate. If I see my calories drop low then usually I eat a bit more and it evens out at a decent level, rather than resulting in me going on a binge. If you really want to monitor your weight then there is a secondary counter that you can use for that.

Anyway, I hope you like it and it works to remove a bit of headache from your life as it is doing for me now as I test it, it is the simplest way to count calories that I can imagine, and avoid the pitfalls that I encounter.

I have added a couple of in app purchases for the non essentials, for those of you that want different input systems and want to input single units (perhaps if you are using this to count something other than calories) then there is the components bundle, and for those of you who want a graphical refresh from time to time then there is the skins bundle.
